The Trevor Family

George Trevor was an American architect from New York.  He is known for this ingenuity and design intelligence utilizing such features as secret rooms and death traps to keep away intruders.

Background

George Trevor and his firm Trevor & Chamberlin was based in New York City, who is well known to construct buildings and mansions that consists of puzzle traps and secret passage ways.  Back in the 1950, he and his wife, Jessica, had a daughter named Lisa.

Constructing The Mansion

Trevor had a thing for gimmicks in his construction that attracted Oswell E. Spencer's and Earl Spencer's attention.  The Spencer's contacted Trevor to construct him a mansion in Arklay County northwest of Raccoon City in 1962.  The design had some of Trevor's typical specialty and inspiration from Spencer's family estate in Europe.  Luring him in being provided unlimited funding so he can give free reign to his imagination, Trevor constructed a manor that would be beautiful and mysterious at the same time.  He built in some traps and secrets of the estate and after construction of the mansion was finished, he and his family was invited to stay there.  Having a lot of work still left to do, Trevor sent in his wife and daughter to stay at the estate until can go himself.  According to Spencer, they arrived November 10th.

Kidnapping

Arriving late at the mansion on November 13, Trevor was told by Spencer that Jessica and Lisa had left to visit his Aunt Emma who was sick.  He had dinner that night with Spencer, unknown that he is subject to experimentation of the Progenitor Virus. The next day, Trevor was given a full tour of the mansion by Spencer, showing him his collections of the suits of armor, DaVinci paintings and Raphael statues.  It was also this same day that Spencer made announcement to open up a pharmaceutical company and use the estate as a private hotel for his colleagues.  Trevor was confused because he was under the impression that mansion was a private retreat for Spencer.

When Trevor wandered around the mansion alone a few days later, he noticed that some things were out of place or there were some things that weren't supposed to be there.  One thing he noticed was a hole in the ground behind an artificial waterfall leading to an underground lab.  Some men reeking of disinfectant were following Trevor around the mansion for some time.

On November 20th, Trevor misplaced his lighter.  Thinking it was in a room with a shotgun holder, he couldn't find it.  Trevor feeling uneasy about the mansion, he let Spencer know that he was leaving the mansion the next day.  The following day, Trevor and Spencer went through the mansion looking for paintings; one of which is a bunch of individual paintings showing a man progressing through his life.  At this point, one of the men turned to Trevor and said "right about now, you're family is--." Trevor was put unconscious by another man and taken to be locked up else where.  After three days of captivity, he realized the truth and that he and Spencer were the only ones that knew about the mansion's secrets and Spencer wanted Trevor dead as a liability.

As he tried to escape, Trevor found one of his wife's shoes lying on the floor in the manor.  After being drugged, his memory became affected, struggling to remember the puzzles that he had constructed before such as the Tiger Eyes and the Golden Emblem.  He found a network of underground tunnels and went through the route to try to escape, but he found no way out.

Death

Running and hiding from the mansion guards for the past several days, Trevor forced himself to hide in one of the unfinished passages. Feeling hungry and weak, he couldn't remember the traps and puzzles that he constructed before and feeling tortured by the knowing that he dragged his family into a nest of vipers.  Getting away from a corridor, Trevor jumped down into a pit that lead to secret passage.  The passage was blocked by a heavy stone that he couldn't move on his own.  Touching it in the darkness of the pit, Trevor saw letters that were engraved into the plague.  Lighting his last match he saw and read the inscription on the tombstone and it was his name.  Now he came to the conclusion that his fate was to die in the manor, he collapsed. Trapped in the pit with no ways to escape, pleading in his diary for his wife and daughter to forgive him, he eventually died of starvation in the inescapable corridor.

Legacy

Following his disappearance, Trevor's legacy in construction designs lived on.  His designs would later be replicated by others to cater to aristocrats like Alexander Ashford in the Umbrella Antarctic Base and luxury cruise line The Queen Zenobia.

Extra Notes

The firm Trevor & Chamberlin bears his name.

Trevor's first appearance was in the non-canon book title Resident Evil: The Book, based on files removed in 1996 before the first game's release.

While Trevor's Memoirs were cut from the 1996 game, his tomb and the secret passage it conceals, linking the Lesson space to the kitchen, were left intact. The original release of the game did edit out Trevor's tombstone, but it was restored in the Director's Cut edition.
