Trivia

Last acting role for Janette Maus who voiced Cassandra Dimitrescu because she passed away due to colon cancer.

You can unlock a Star Wars lightsaber as a bonus weapon in the Mercenaries Mode.

Lady Alcina Dimitrescu's face is based on a Polish actress named Helena Mankowska.

Jeff Schine who voices Chris Redfield also provided the voice for Carlos Oliveira in the Resident Evil 3 Remake. Same with the voice actor of Heisenberg, Neil Newbon, he voiced Nicholai also in Resident Evil 3 Remake.

Lady Dimitrescu stands at a whopping 9'6" (2.90 meters) tall. This makes her taller than Mr. X (7'0") from Resident Evil 2 (1998, 2019), and the Nemesis (8'0") from Resident Evil 3 (1999, 2020).

The game is heavily inspired by Romanian folklore, countryside and traditions, food and legendary monsters. All the dishes Duke cooks for you the name of the monsters and other items found throughout the game are original from Romania.

Iulian, Luiza's nervous son, is voiced by the same actor as Lucas in Resident Evil 7.

It makes sense that silver bullets work on all the monsters in the game. Silver is an antifungal agent, and all the mutations were created with the mold.

Karl Heisenberg's appearance is inspired by Van Helsing, while his personality and voice is based on actor Nicolas Cage.

Nicole Tompkins, who voices Daniela Dimitrescu, also voices Jill Valentine in the remake Resident Evil 3 (2020).

Lady Dimitrescu was inspired by real life serial killer Elizabeth Báthory, who lived in the 16th century. She was also known as "The Blood Countess", due to her alleged vampiric tendencies.

Resident Evil Village entered production sometime just before or after the release of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (2017), and it was felt the game should be a continuation of that game's story.

This Resident Evil game originally started development as Resident Evil Revelations 3, possibly sometime around 2017, however internal testing of early version of the game received very positive reactions by game testers and others, and since Capcom didn't want a huge time gap between Resident Evil 7 and 8, it was decided to change it into the Resident Evil 8, so while development on new version of third Revelations game was pushed for the future, this original version was given another year of development to completely turn it into what eventually became Resident Evil Village, while the original story planned for Resident Evil 8 was dropped. Only known but unconfirmed rumors about it mentioned how it would take place on some island, how it would focus on origins of mold and Eveline from last game, and how Ethan and Chris would have been the main characters.

Maggie Robertson had no idea that she was auditioning for a Resident Evil game. She only found out about it after she was cast, at the first table read of the script.

Karl Heisenberg's powers are similar to Marvel comics character, Magneto; being able to manipulate metallic parts.

When Lady Dimitrescu tastes some of Ethan's blood, she says he's stale and going bad. Then Bela states that she finds Ethan yummy. Keep in mind Ethan is a corpse animated by the mold.

Director Morimasa Sato was inspired by the "Gothic horror" genre. For example, the Lycans were inspired by the werewolf, while the Dimitrescus were inspired by vampires.

Chris appears to have left the BSAA for Blue Umbrella; given the BSSA has resorted to BOWs of their own, while Blue Umbrella is PMO.

Mother Miranda's face is modeled after Anja Voskresenska, a Latvian model.

Heisenberg didn't know who Ethan was until Miranda told him at the meeting.

The reason Ethan can die from the malformed baby eating him is that his brain has been tricked into thinking all that pain and death is real.

The three daughters of Lady Dimitrescu have differing outlooks. For example: Bela is a straight out psycho; Cassandra is polite and very obedient to Alcina; and Daniela is delusional and cheerful.

Of course the village looks like it's over 60 years behind in technology. Miranda ensured her village stayed secret by limiting how far she allowed the locals to advance.

If the players never or rarely visit the Duke's store during their playthrough, he will make angry comments about it when they pass by him.

While fans speculated that this episode would have the series take a more supernatural turn, it is actually explained that the vampire women and the werewolves are victims of a parasite virus just as the other enemies in the series were before.

Towards the end of the game, when Heisenberg's Factory blows up, he mentions that Chris is a 'boulder punching asshole' for what he's done. Chris punches a Boulder during the end of Resident Evil 5 whilst him and Sheva take on Wesker.

Towards the end of the game whilst playing as Chris, there's a file/letter written to Mother Miranda in her lab from her 'Student' Oswell E. Spencer, whom most Resident Evil fans will know as the Founder of Umbrella.

If the player goes back to the main hall of the castle after defeating Daniela Dimitrescu in the library, they can see Lady Dimitrescu storming in the room and calling for Cassandra before ordering to find and kill Ethan. Depending on the direction from which the player enters the room, the dialogue changes slightly.

An idea that was scrapped in early production was that Ada Wong would have been in the game wearing a disguise to investigate the village and saves Ethan. She was dropped because it could conflict several scenarios in the story.

The fairy tale at the beginning of the game sums up the whole plot. The three smaller bats and the big white one represent Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters. The weaver is Donna Beneviento, the giant fish is Moreau and the mechanical horse is Heisenberg. And the witch at the end of the book is Mother Miranda.

Some files in the Dimitrescu castle state that all the hooded enemies found in that same area, including the ones with wings, were female servants turned into monsters by the Dimitrescu women. Men were drained of their blood and killed.

The Dimitrescu name was chosen because it is similar to Dracula, which comes from the Romanian word "dracul", meaning "dragon". Lady Dimitrescu's final form purposely resembles a dragon.

There is a hidden Varcolac Alfa boss in the field in front of Luiza's house. It appears after Ethan came back from Moreau's reservoir and can be missed as the player doesn't need to go back in that area to complete the game.

The reason why Lady Dimitrescu appears to be large in size is due to her regenerative abilities, as explained in the character files towards the end of the game.

The final battle in the ending between Chris's Wolf Hound team and all the monsters was originally also supposed to include mutated BSAA soldiers who would attack both sides, but this was changed, possibly because it would reveal too much about any plots for next game, with the reveal of BSAA turning evil and using bio-weapons.

A CD with the title "Miss D & the Pallboys" can be found in Ethan Winters' home. While it hasn't been officially confirmed, fans have no doubt that the woman on the cover is Lady Dimitrescu, and that she used to be a jazz singer in the past before she mutated.

Based on the leaked reports and footage of the game from some work-in-progress beta versions of it, originally the ending was different. After the scene where he realizes what he really is and before he wakes up in Duke's carriage, Ethan had another flashback, remembering him and real Mia talking happily in their house. Then after Ethan wakes up, Duke showed him a medical suitcase containing dead molded creature similar to one which Ethan used to get toxic material to defeat Eveline in previous game. Ethan does the same thing again with this creature, and when he confronts Miranda and struggles with her after Chris shoots her, he injects her with the toxin, which is why Miranda starts losing her power, but in the final game this scene was changed and reason for what happens to Miranda was left unexplained.

In earlier drafts of the story, Donna Beneviento was a village doctor, and not an isolated doll maker like she is in the game. Her original backstory included her parents committing suicide by jumping into the waterfall next to their house. It also heavily implied that Donna was a ghost, which would've been the first time anything supernatural happened in the Resident Evil series.

If you choose to stay after the main credits, a post-credits scene will play, which shows a teenage Rose wishing her late dad, Ethan, a happy birthday whilst putting flowers on his grave. Staying a little longer will give you an extra message that says: The fathers story is complete.

It is impossible to return to any of the Lords' homes after their boss fights.

Throughout the game, Ethan's face is never shown entirely. Although the character model of him has a fully modeled face, it is obscured by a shadow in the character gallery. Furthermore, when playing the game in the optional third person mode that comes with the Winters' Expansion, it is not possible to point the camera to his face.

According to Miranda's files, Mia's former employers, The Connections, kept tabs on her and informed Miranda of Rose's birth.

Mistakes

Lady Dimitriscue reacts to Bella's death when Ethan follows her into the bath building. There's no way she could know about Bela dying unless she had been closer to the cellar.

Both the Lemi and the M1911 share the same ammunition despite the fact that in reality the two pistols use different ammunition.

Even when captured and later let go, his items and weapons are still with him.

Near the beginning of the game, Elena shoots her infected father with a shotgun after he attacks Ethan, and the sound of the gun cocking is heard after. However, as Elena walks back into view, she is holding a double-barreled break-action shotgun, which is not capable of being rechambered like the sound effect implied.

Mia consistently withholds the truth about Ethan's body from him, even though the entire reason they periodically fell out in the previous game was because Mia lied to him. Someone as obsessed with keeping the family together as Mia would not continue to withhold information when it is the reason she almost lost everything.

Towards the beginning of the game, Donna's doll, Angie, seems to have a mind of its own, as it inspects Ethan's features without Donna's help. However, when the player arrives at the Beneviento House, Angie sits dormant until Donna starts puppeting her.
