Trivia (IMDb)

Author S.D. Perry wrote a novel about this game called Resident Evil Nemesis in 2000.

A live-action movie about this game was filmed and released in 2004 titled Resident Evil Apocalypse where Jill Valentine, Carlos Olivera, Nicholai and Nemesis all made it in.

Producer Shinji Mikami was originally against calling this game Biohazard 3. He felt that Biohazard Code: Veronica, which advanced the story more than this game did, was the "true Biohazard 3" and that Biohazard 3 should've been called Biohazard 1.9.

This is the first Resident Evil game where you don't have a character choice to play.  Jill is the default character.

Capcom selected Jill Valentine as the game's main character since she was considered the only remaining suitable character. Chris and Claire Redfield were planned for Code Veronica and Leon Kennedy was being planned for Resident Evil 4.

This is the first Resident Evil game in the series to feature quick event options which will alter the gameplay or story a little.  For example: during the first Nemesis encounter, you're presented with an event option to either choose to run into the police station or fight him.

If you play the game in Hard mode and if you knock out Nemesis during battle, he'll drop an item; usually gun parts or health items.

This is the first Resident Evil game to have a reloading tool, which allows you to combine gun powders to make ammo.

During the time of this game's release, Capcom was already in production of the DreamCast version of Resident Evil CODE: Veronica for the PlayStation 2.

Located in the gas station is a poster of an exotic model with the year 1998 printed on it. This same poster can be spotted in the B3 laboratory of the original Resident Evil.

Near the front entrance of the theater, there is a movie poster that reads "Biohazard 4."

The name of the pet store "Eagle's Pet Shop", is a reference to "Eagle" from Street Fighter series.

Raccoon City was chosen as the game's setting so the developers could create a greater variety of detailed environments.

Next to where the Uptown Map is found is a van that reads "Gun shop Kendo", a reference to the Kendo gun shop in Resident Evil 2.

This is the first Resident Evil game where the flamethrower isn't available.

The development team intended to make the game more action-oriented by introducing the 180 degree turn and the ability to quick-dodge attacks from enemies. The explosive barrels the player could shoot to kill nearby enemies.

Scenario writer Yasuhisa Kawamura was inspired to add the Mercenaries minigame to Resident Evil 3: Nemesis from The Running Man.

The scene where the player encounters a Hunter for the first time was slightly edited in the Japanese version. The American version shows a zombie approaching, only to be decapitated by a Hunter, while the Japanese version has the zombie's head remain intact.

One of the alternate costumes Jill wears resembles Regina from Dino Crisis, another Capcom game.

In the North American version, Nemesis was made to have 900 HP instead of 800 in an attempt to make the game harder so that people wouldn't just rent it, quickly finish it and then return it instead of buying it. This health change is why the Japanese version of this game is generally used for speedruns.

Brad's death at the beginning of Resident Evil 3 is a connection to the zombie version of him that the player can encounter in Resident Evil 2 if they reach the police station without picking up any items.

The man who appears upon successful completion of the "Mercenaries - Operation: Mad Jackal" mini-game is none other than Chief Irons from Resident Evil 2 in a cameo appearance, albeit with his face obscured by the shadows, but still a little bit visible.

The first half of the game takes place before the events of Resident Evil 2 and the second half, after the Resident Evil 2 events, making this game both prequel and sequel at the same time.

The time on the clock tower reads 11:00 when you first arrive and then when the rescue helicopter arrives, the clock reads 12:00. This means in the story, Jill spends an hour going through the clock tower. Gamers average time is about 10 - 15 minutes.

This is the first Resident Evil game to have two different kind of hunters: Beta and Gamma.

This is the only Resident Evil game to use the beta species of Hunters.

First game to have the "Mercenaries" minigame.

During the events of this game, Chris Redfield is in Europe on his quest to bring down the evil Umbrella corporation, leading to the events of Resident Evil - Code: Veronica (2000).

According to Japanese sources, the name of the female hostage in the Mad Jackal mini-game is Lucia Rosso, Dario Rosso's daughter (who is killed in the main game).

Brad Vickers is a secret zombie found in Resident Evil 2 if you get to the police station without picking up any items. Brad is killed by the Nemesis monster in Resident Evil 3, but he shouldn't have turned to a zombie as he was not infected nor bitten by a zombie. He was impaled by Nemesis' tentacle.

There are two endings for this game. Ending A has Barry saving you via a helicopter. Ending B has Carlos flying the helicopter away.  To determine what ending you're going to get depends on the quick event choice on the foot bridge outside the dead factory.  If you jump off, you get the good ending; if you shove Nemesis off, you get the bad ending.

Mistakes

There are doors in the police station that are sealed and boarded up, but the next day when the events of Resident Evil 2 takes place, those doors are unsealed and not boarded up. In fact you can search through those sealed rooms.

The window the Nemesis busts through isn't broken later on in the events of Resident Evil 2.

The front of the RPD building shows barriers and blockades, but in Resident Evil 2 (later in the timeline) the front of the RPD building is clear of any barriers.

When Jill examines the control panel to the cable car, the description reads "A well maintained contro room."

In Resident Evil 2, which takes place between the first and second halves of Resident Evil 3, the player receives an important item from RPD Police Officer Marvin Branagh; in this game, Marvin Branagh appears to already be dead when Jill reaches the police station at the beginning of the game. However, when the player checks Marvin, he is described as "fatally wounded." He's not dead yet; he's just passed out.
